If a criminal really wants his hands on a gun there is always the black market to turn to where there is no background checks. If a criminal is denied legal purchase of a firearm he could also go to a licensed dealer gone corrupt. These dealers give the guns out for cheap with no background check necessary. Some cops would say that crimes were committed with guns that were stolen. However, that is not entirely true. Guns fall into the wrong hands. The black market can put guns into anyone’s hands as long as the pay for it. Most guns are obtained through straw sales. A straw purchase is when someone has someone else purchase a firearm for them. They would not be able to legally purchase one on their own. People also purchase guns from corrupt at-home gun dealers or commercial gun dealers. Illegal activity by those licensed to sell guns is a huge source of crime guns. Guns are also available to purchase through unlicensed street dealers who get their guns illegally. “In fact, more than half the arrestees say it is easy to obtain guns illegally.”
