He, at the age of 95, still enjoys reading, and calls it one of his favorite pastimes. Out of all of my mom’s patients, he is the only one with a set routine from 6am to 10 pm. During this time, he completes several books, from cover to cover. In the nine years he has been living there, he has read over 1,500 books, and he, shockingly, has no health problems. Robert’s world revolves around his books; and he doesn’t pay attention to any of his surroundings. My mother believes he is the most intelligent man she has met, and greatly respects him, as do I.
Despite these advantages, in my opinion, reading doesn’t improve your memory. Studies have shown that reading could enhance your memory; improving your recollections, but I have yet to experience this benefit. As stated in the article, you do have to remember the characters, recall their situation and background, hindrances, and ambitions, however, I question my memory improvement. In a matter of a couple of days, the plot and characters of the book are quickly forgotten, and to recall information, I typically have to return and review the
