Lauren Rilee White is the name written across my birth certificate; therefore, it is a name written across my personality and life. My name was chosen for it’s meaning and flow. While my first name is Lauren, all who know me call my Rilee, staying true to what I have been called throughout my life. While my name does not represent my family history, it is still holds much meaning and significance.
My last name, White, is one of the most common last names in use. White is usually thought of as a color, and sometimes as an absence of color. However, contrary to common thought, the color white is actually the presence of all colors. I feel that this is prophetic to my personality. He had always liked the name Riley, from the saying “life of Riley”. This means a carefree or luxurious existence, which is what he wished me to have in the future. The “-lee” (as opposed to a a “-ly”) is a reference to my mom’s maiden name “Lee”. Every person wishes to live a life of ease and luxury, and this name represents an end goal.
Some may see “Rilee” as a nickname, if they are unaware of that it is my middle name. While this is not just a nickname, I have other nicknames that were created from my interests. One of these is “Sherlock”, referencing the iconic character Sherlock Holmes. This nickname came from my never-ending obsession with the BBC TV show “Sherlock”. While sometimes this is just used because of my love for the character, I prefer to view the name as a challenge, encouraging me to observe the world around
