What Is Life Worksheet 1. Find a media piece—article, video, presentation, song, or other—related to the scientific method, creating hypotheses, or designing experiments. Include the link or reference citation for the piece and describe how it helped you better understand how the scientific method is used to create hypotheses and experiments.
This informative video explains the steps in the Scientific Method in a manner that was understandable. The original educational website of Brightstorm shares this video on YouTube and it was straight to the point on how the steps to the scientific method work. The video speaker gives details on the steps that are easy …show more content…
The video uses something people are familiar with as a learning base and that is a city’s structure. The video was easy to relate to and understand for the most part. It begins with big organisms and works down to molecules. A cell is the smallest unit of life and is so small you cannot see them with the naked eye. People are big organisms and made up with a system of organs (i.e. the digestive system). Organs systems are comprised of individual organs, and they in turn are comprised of tissues. Tissues are groups of cells. A cell in turn contains organelles and molecules. There are single cell organisms such as bacteria and algae that are called prokaryotes. The cells that makeup plants and animals are called eukaryote cells. The prokaryote has no membrane-bound nucleus and floats, while the eukaryote cell is membrane-bound nucleus and does not float. Cells have many parts and functions like a mini city. The parts are called organelles. First, you have the plasma cell membrane that functions as a gate or fence. The nucleus functions like the capital with instructions of what to do. The mitochondria are the power plant and produces energy called ATP. The ribosomes are the factories that translate information into proteins that do the work in the cells. The Golgi functions as a post office and the endoplasmic reticulum is the highways. The protein vesicles are the trucks on the highways and the lysosome is the trash collector. Now the eukaryotic cell has two types and they are plant and animal cells. Plant cells have a wall around the plasma cell membrane and animal cells just have the membrane. The plant cell as one big vacuole and the animal had a few small ones. The vacuoles stores molecules that the cell needs and quarantines harmful materials. All of these works together to form the inter-workings of life. Basically, everything is
