He fought in Kosovo without the required equipment. He did not know about the use of depleted uranium. During this war he had breathed deeply the air of those places and he trampled on the poisoned lands of nanoparticles. That poison entered in his body, slowly but inexorably. It attacked his powerful physique. Soon arrived the first symptoms and after a short time, the discovery of the tumor. A type of tumor that has a terrible and unpronounceable name: glioblastoma multiforme grade IV. It had made his life impossible. He stayed in a bed waiting for death. The war in Kosovo was a part of his fight. His greatest war was the fight for his life. Luciano passed the rest of his life in hospital. It swung like a parcel from one hospital to another. Doctors gave to him the same diagnosis. In particulary a poor prognosis, it means that there are not people healed from a similar illness. There are those who survive a few years, those leaving early. Doctor gave to Luciano six months of life. His family did not give up. They went to Germany with the hope to find the best care. Thanks to Arno Thaller, an oncologist who had a clinic specializing in the treatment of tumors, the Praxis- Thaller in Markt Berolzheim, Luciano shows signs of recovery. In an interview made at Luciano's sister, Maria Grazia, she explained what happened and why Italian's state does not reimburse medical costs incurred in Germany. She said that when Luciano discovered to be sick, the local health (ASL of Roma) told him to cure in Italy, in Milan. He could do chemo and radiation but hopeless. In fact, his condition worsened and for this reason they decided to prove an alternative therapies abroad. It was these therapies abroad that were not reimbursed to Luciano. The costs were very high almost 60,000 Euros. Despiste they sent invoices to Italia's consulate in Monaco asking for a refund, the local health told him that therapies for them have no scientifics evidence. They send also an urgent petition but it was rejected. Despite continued medical expert investigations, they were alone without a solution and money. Luciano's family did not have other option if not to use their savings to save the life of his son.
