What Is Matamoros Cult
Matamoros Cult The Matamoros Cult is one of the most gruesome colts that has ever existed in society which was created by a very troubled man named Adolfo Constanzo. Adolfo was born on November 1, 1962 in Miami Florida from a Cuban immigrant mother who gave birth to him at the age of 15. His original father died when he was three years old which led for him and his mother to move to San Juan, Puerto Rico where she would remarry. Adolfo was a pretty well rounded kid who was baptized Catholic and served as an altar boy for the church, but it did not take him long to pick up on his mother's Vodou (Voodoo) beliefs. After spending some time in Puerto Rico, the family moved back to Miami where his mother remarried again due to the death of his stepfather. …show more content…
Adolfo soon caught on and started following his stepfather’s footsteps by becoming apprenticed to a local sorcerer and begun practicing the religion. As Adolfo grew older, he became more troubled and started to be involved in drug dealing which led to him becoming a greater believer of Palo Mayombe. He believed that if he sacrificed animals such as chickens, goats, snakes, zebras, and lion cubs, that it would bring good luck and power to his drug dealing. Word got around of these “magical spells” and other cartels became interested and wanted to become clients of Adolfos. He began running a profitable business and soon felt the need for stronger luck which led him to seek human sacrifice. He got the attention of fourteen other individuals who would become part of his team who would help him carry out his goals of …show more content…
The were very firm believers of Palo Mayombe and actually thought that they were immortal to any outside forces. They believed that they could not be stopped and could do anything they wanted without getting into trouble. But it all went downhill for them when Mark Kilroy went missing which led to a huge police investigation. It had been a week and still the police couldn’t find anything, but all changed when one of the cult members came and confessed everything to them. (And keep in mind that they felt immortal and could not get in trouble). The police than followed the man to the ranch where they were carrying out their business and they couldn’t believe their eyes when they arrived. All three of the members of the cult were there and showed the police everything they needed to know, including Mark Kilroy’s body. Everybody from the cult was there, but not Constanzo which led to another huge police hunt. A couple weeks later, the police are responding to a crime in apartments of mexico city where Adolfo was staying. Now this crime was not at all directed towards Adolfo, but in his mind he believed the police had found him so he opened up his window and began firing endlessly. The shootout ends when Adolfo takes several machine gun bullets to the chest and dies

Domingo’s forced migration from the Bight of Benin to the America’s, via the middle passage, his brief stay on a plantation in Pernambuco, Brazil; and his experiences in Rio de Janeiro until his final exile in Portugal, all originated and culminated due to his suggested experience as a Vudon priest and suspicions of dark magic or witchcraft. Through this work Sweet proves that like religion, culture, and belief is not static, it’s dynamic, and vibrant and changes over time. It is also clear that co-mingling of Traditional African Religion and Catholicism provided advantages for Domingo’s lifestyle. Moreover, by adapting Catholicism into the beliefs of his vudon beliefs and practices, Domingos manipulated his owner’s and clients, by revealing psychological, political and societal ills and creating a spiritual sense of fear. For example, his use of Gbo to delay a slave ship, and his possession and alleged cure of Leonor de Oliveira, was this evidence of healing practices and cures or an illusion Álvarez created to protest the social and political angst of his new…

Racism really played a role in this story and how Henry and his gang were treated unfairly and poorly. Although their were no witnesses to the scene and no weapon found, they were still treated like criminals because of their skin color. During this time, it seemed like everyone were against the pachucos and latinos. The media used the arrests to their advantage to bash on the Mexican Americans. They would use derogatory and racists terms to tear them down and shine light only on negative attention and news.
