the higher power. This shows us that the story is to edify instead of entertain because of the definition of edify. Also, because most of the story’s that have to do with religion has an underlying story. The stories also have someone that needs to better their relationship with someone. The underlying story in this one would be that if you listen to god’s word nothing tragic will happen to you or the people you love. Fallowing god’s word may be tough at time but stick with it and in the end, everything will work out for you and your loved ones. The story did succeed very well because Abraham did work out a deal with god. God was testing Abraham to see how strong their relationship was with each other. The deal that they work out was for Abraham to sacrifice his son. In the end, he did not have to sacrifice his son. This is because an angel came down and said that he did not have to lose his son to have a better relationship with god. He could sacrifice a ram instead of his son because god realized they do have a strong relationship because Abraham was listening to everything god was saying. Isaac did not fully understand right way why his dad would have to sacrifice him but in the end, he realized why he had to do it. Abraham and Isaac made a stronger connection with each other as well, because of what he was going to do for god. Isaac was happy when god stopped his dad from killing him. Giving his dad a ram to sacrifice instead of him helped their relationship. He was relieved with his dad that he got to live longer. The story is for the reader to understand that they need to trust in god and follow his words. This is because if you do what he wants you to do god will give you a reward. In this story the reward was not having to sacrifice his son that he loved very much. The reward might not be as noticeable right when you fallow his word but it will come eventually. All the readers must trust in god and not let anything else get in the way.
God has a path for everyone to fallow just like Abraham in this story. He was listening to god’s word and was about to go through with it. When suddenly an angel came, and stopped him. The path that he chose for you will not be out in the open. It is there for you if you fallow his words. God provides for us when we rely on him. God would never plan your life or plan an event for your life without a reason. He will always have a good reason why he chose what he chose for you.
In conclusion, the story did a very good job of edify because of Abraham was instructed to kill his son and he was going to because that is what god wanted. Abraham did eventually get more connected with god. God saw that Abraham would do anything to make his relationship stronger. He then stopped Abraham from killing his son. After that god had an even closer relationship with god for making his connection stronger and allowing him to keep his son alive.
