Tom Simmons, Marketing Manager for Green Acres Seed Company, is trying to make a strategy for increasing the company’s sale and profit even though province of Ontario has a highly competitive seed corn market. By setting a promising marketing strategy, the company could take over small part of market share from leading company, and this would result that Green Acre could get high reputation and awareness in Ontario as well as in Canada. Currently, seed leading company is Pioneer that has more than 50 percent of the market, and Green Acre has about 11 percent. When we read the background paragraph, there are two types of corn: grain corn and silage corn. Grain corn is harvested only the ear and used for commercial purpose. On the other hands, silage corn is harvested the entire plant and used for feeding livestock. Especially, leading company and 2nd and 3rd company are focusing on grain corn, because this product can be converted into commercial product, and this would make more profit than silage corn. For Green Acre’s position of grain corn product, it is very hard to penetrate and take market share in the grain corn product area. There are three reasons for choosing this strategy. First, market leader in Ontario is vague. Second, the silage strategy make the company differentiate from competitors. Third, Green Acre has better silage performance characteristic than competitors. In order to catch some useful information from 400 farmers they did market research.…

The following chapter delves into the principles of organic farming and their various implementations in modern America. Pollan shows that as organic food has grown in popularity, its producers have adopted many of the methods of industrial agriculture, while losing sight of the organic movement's anti-industrial roots. A meal prepared from ingredients purchased at Whole Foods represents this food chain at the table. As a study in contrast, Pollan visits a small-scale organic farm, where natural conditions are adhered to as closely as possible, very few artificial inputs are used, and waste products are recycled back into the system. He then prepares a meal using only local produce from small-scale organic farmers.…

The latest trend or “craze” per say of the twenty first century has been that of organic foods. The U.S market for organic food at one time was growing at a pace of 20% per year, which is significantly greater as compared to the 3-4% of the food sector as a whole. This undeniable growing demand in organic foods caught the attention of Douglas Degn, an executive vice president of the wildly popular organization, Wal-Mart. With the demand of organic products often outstripping supply, Degn was faced with the decision of whether or not to jump on this shortage and give people what they want out of organics from Wal-Mart, or if he should continue to build on the products they already offer to consumers, in order to raise profits. After analyzing the market and production for organic food and reviewing Wal-Marts business strategy, it is recommended that Wal-Mart pass up the temptations of the organic food industry, and should commit their money and energy in improving the products they already offer.…

The safety of what we eat is the number one concern among those who worry about factory-produced food. In order to produce as much product as possible, factory animals are pumped full of hormones and antibiotics. Likewise, our fruits and vegetables are genetically modified and sprayed with insecticides. These chemicals have detrimental effects on our health and are ruining our food for no reason other than corporate profit. The only way to avoid our exposure to these things is to either buy organic food or buy it locally. Organic foods are the most rapidly growing segment of our food industry, doubling in growth every few years (Ikerd). Unfortunately, Organic food from supermarkets is just another big business which contributes to eliminating earth resources and often misleads consumers with its claims. If more people began eating locally, we would decrease the…

The company had launched design defect products (Turbo Tiller), which caused consumer’s injury and ended up in a scandal. The causes of design defect came from various reasons such as, the declining sales, which led to the planning of unrealistic product launch and schedule, Organization ethical issues, and lack of communication within the organization. (See appendix 1 for summary) Immediate Action/ Short term plan First of all, company have to think about the company image from the ruined situation happening to the injured person and to express company sincerity. NFG firstly should to take the responsibility on that particular issue by helping the sufferer with medical fee or damages. Then the next action is to contact all customers who have purchased the defective model, acknowledge them about the problem and send out staffs to customer’s house for free installation of a new workable part. After that the process of giving them the knowledge of how to use the product in the right way is settled in order to avoid any mistakes or loss occurring later on. However, the company has to make sure that the unqualified products sold to retailers are revoked and new modification items are replaced. Mid term plan In doing this, NFG have to do more on market research to see what are the real need, and study more about consumer insight before launching new product even once that product have already been launched. A re-defined KPI for each employee is needed. Every employee is required to hold on to 2 sets of KPI. The first set is coperate KPI. This is the KPI that shares by everyone in the firm, for example ethical work, product quality, stakeholders’ benefits etc. The second set is the individual KPI, this is based on department’s objectives and…
