What Is The American Dream Paradox

The Great “American Dream” The American Dream… a mystery really, no one really knows what it feels like to achieve it. Everyone’s dreams are different, and once someone achieves a dream they think of more and more so its a continuous cycle of chasing your dreams. A statement that could be said is how being rich will get everyone the American Dream that everyone wants, but what about true love and having money doesn’t mean that person is automatically happy. Even though someone may have wealth, the American Dream lacks the proper structure for anyone to attain it because hard work does not always pay off, true love proves a challenge, and the dream invokes a paradox. When more “desires” pop up in someone life, they will not rest until they are met. Around page 99, The Great Gatsby portrays that Daisy desires wealth and being with Gatsby at his house intrigues here because of what expensive things he has. Desires are what people feel they deserve/ want the want. People will marry rich to have these desires fulfilled, trying to make the American Dream the easy way but then the problem occurs with the desire for true love so they will leave the money to find that. Once they do find true love they are going to want money again and so on and so on. If someone is to achieve a single dream, more will take its place, making the American Dream always distant.
