Kennedy was very determined to pursue this mission on the moon, he set a national goal of "landing a man on the Moon and returning him safely to the Earth" by the end of the 1960's. At the start of the 1960's JFK proposed an address to congress for the Apollo moon program, the address was accepted. During the program's missions there were two different launch vehicles the Saturn IB and the Saturn V.
