The corruptness is proven in the Affluenza Teen case, where teenager Ethan Couch killed several while drunk driving. The attorneys that represented Couch said he had not known his actions were wrong due to his privileged upbringing. Ethan Couch received probation for killing multiple people while under the influence. Also, almost all the inmates executed on death row were too poor to afford their own attorney. The criminal justice system is not always correct; in several instances people have been wrongly convicted and later executed. Carlos Deluna was convicted of stabbing a woman to death, and he was executed in 1989 despite no evidence that he actually committed the crime. The death penalty is also unconstitutional because the eighth amendment bans cruel and unusual punishments. Many instances have proven the death penalty cruel. In Ohio, inmate Romell Broom was convicted for rape. Romell’s execution was scheduled in 2009 but didn’t work as planned. The Death Penalty also falters with consistency of sentencing. How is it fair that one can commit a crime in Texas and receive the death penalty but one who commits that same crime in Minnesota cannot get the Death Penalty because the state doesn’t offer
