Not only was Roosevelt a leader through a rough time in american history so was president Kennedy. He was our leader during the cold war. Roosevelt wanted us to defend america and our allies so that we could try to fight for our freedom and for us to come together as a whole nation. However Kennedy wanted us to come together for a change in the world. To many people want wars and fights but Kennedy didn’t that he wanted us to be one nation working together to make our world change. He said “to those old allies whose cultural and spiritual origins we share, we pledge the loyalty of faithful friends. United there is little we cannot do for we dare not meet a powerful challenges at odds and split asunder.” Kennedy wants everyone to move on from the past and just change the way our future could of been. He wanted us to be one nation. Kennedy said “ to our sister republics south of our border, we offer a special pledge to convert our good words into good deeds in a new alliance for progress to assist free men and free governments in casting off the chains of poverty. But this peaceful revolution of hope cannot become the prey of hostile powers. Let all our neighbors know that we shall not join with them to oppose aggression or subversion anywhere in the americas. He didn’t want us to let people come to our land and win victory. He wanted us to go big or go home. Freedom was important but to Roosevelt fighting for our freedom was more important. He didn’t want us to lose our freedom and he wanted us to help change the world but he wanted us to get even for our freedom. He thought about isolating us but then he didn’t want that because how all these other countries act being all lock up pretty much not being able to go many places. So he kept us not isolated. Which in the long run was probably better that he didn’t isolate
