When CrossFit exercise was first developed they had a specific purpose in mind. This purpose was to have an exercise program that lead to overall stability, endurance, and strength. They wanted a person who did these exercises to be given a program that would give them overall fitness. When you start a CrossFit exercise program you will have a variety of exercises that include gymnastics, calisthenics, weight training, and other different fitness routines. A good workout regimen helps focus on your entire body in order to get it into shape and healthier. When you do a CrossFit exercise routine you will be following the same principle military personnel do in their exercise routines. Before you get into this routine and are able to do it at home, you should make sure that you first get training from a professional trainer as CrossFit is a routine that has specialized exercises.…
Do you think cheer is a sport? The argument of cheer either being a sport or not being a sport has been up in the air for years. This argument almost always ends up with someone getting upset. Here are some facts that might change your opinion, they also might help you the next time this argument comes up.…
Cheerleading started as a male endeavor in 1898, when a University of Minnesota football fan led the crowd in verse in support of their team. It was not until World War II, when men shipped out to war, that women took over. Then cheerleaders came to represent the American ideal of femininity: wholesome apple pie with washboard stomachs, perfect teeth, and flawless complexions. Stereotypes cast them as blond, petite, and impossibly perky. “From its humble beginning cheerleading has blossomed into a competitive athletic activity with a serious image problem” (Forman 52). But today’s post-feminist youth have put a new, diverse face on cheerleading. Cheerleading in America is no longer a matter of waving pom-poms, a cute smile and being overly perky. Calling themselves athletes, not eye candy, cheerleaders are pushing harder for recognition as participants in an official sport. Today, cheerleading involves skills which require the strength of football, the grace of dance, and the agility of gymnastics. Complex maneuvers are performed which challenge the limits of the body. Safety organizations such as the American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Administrators were formed to develop safety rules to guide programs in the safe performance of cheerleading gymnastics, which include jumps, partner stunts, pyramids and tumbling. With the risks involved today, cheerleading should receive statewide recognition as a sport.…
Although many people would say or agree that cheerleading isn’t a sport because all you do is be on the sideline or you're just supporting and not competing for anything, cheerleading actually comes with a lot. A lot as in hard work, having to pay fees plus the games and activities you are expected to attend just like any other sport.…
Gymnastics is a different and interesting sport. Most sports have one thing to focus on. In Gymnastics, there are four events to focus on: the vault, bars, beam and floor. Your hands get ripped, you get sore, you can tear, break, and sprain many parts of your body during practice.. Even when you hurt yourself, you have to get back up and keep going to succeed. Gymnastics is harder than other sports because you have a lot of conditioning, you don’t wear any protective gear, and you have to be hard worker.…
There have been arguments proposed that the sport of cheerleading is too dangerous for the human body and can be hazardous to your health. “All injuries resulted from direct trauma, 15 injuries were classified as nonfatal, resulting in permanent disability, 12 were serious and 2 were fatal. Activities most commonly associated with injury were, in order pyramid stunts, basket tosses and advanced gymnastics stunts.” (Shrier 2004) If taken into precaution, cheerleading can be beneficial to your body and can actually help you engage in physical activity and strengthen all parts of your body. There has been severe injuries following cheer, but at the same time the experience of being able to change your body in the right way is remarkable. In…

There is always conversation about how cheerleading isn’t a sport or shouldn’t be considered one. Cheerleading is the fastest growing girls sport, yet more than half of Americans do not believe it is a sport. In addition, they fail to distinguish between sideline cheerleaders and competitive ones. A real cheerleader doesn’t stand on the side; they are performing, working hard to be the best of the best. Every cheerleader gets fired up when someone sparks the “Is cheerleading a sport?” debate. According to Webster’s Dictionary, a sport is defined as a contest or game in which people do certain physical activities according to a specific set of rules and compete against each other. The amount of intense training that cheerleaders do is crazy. Cheerleaders get injured, sometimes it is serious then other times it’s not. Cheerleaders also get offered scholarships and many other opportunities. Cheerleading offers many scholarships for college cheer, one might enter an all-star team, or they may even become a coach/choreographer. Cheerleading is in the top five most dangerous sports in the world, yes. A sport. It’s proven to be in the top five dangerous, and yet people still have the gut to say that it is not a sport. Here’s to the people who say cheerleading isn’t a sport and that cheerleaders aren’t athletes.…
There is quite a bit of controversy over cheerleading and dance. Some may confuse them, or even think they’re the same thing, but they have their similarities and differences. They may have some deviation, as in physical ability, technique, and choreography; but one thing they do have in common are the competitions.…
Cheerleaders are hardcore. Being able to flip through the air and land a front flip is not something most traditionally accepted athletes can say they can for themselves. Sure, a 250lb football player can run into another man at high speeds without blinking, but cheerleaders can throw another human being in the air and then catch them. Still, cheerleaders are recognized on a lower scale, and many do not even believe cheerleading is a sport. This is an important topic to discuss because all athletes deserve and receive a lot of respect. If a cheerleader is not considered an athlete, it is possible that these men and women who cheer could feel degraded or worthless. Cheerleaders are athletes because athletes rigorously train their bodies to get better, master the skills that go into their sport,…
If I was ever feeling down, I could look at that medal and immediately have that feeling again. Today, I have so many things that I do that are not very easy. I coach gymnastics, I am in dance, every summer I do a mission project with my church, and then I of course have school. Through gymnastics I have seen things that everybody does a little different. When I see someone achieve something that will lead to bigger things in life, all I can think is “Wow. They should get a medal for achieving that.” I think this because in gymnastics, medals are not earned at the competition. They are earned during practice. So when I see people do something big, and I know that they have been working so hard for it, I think that they should have earned something…
