What Is The Ku Klux Klan?

The Ku Klux Klan (KKK) was one of the most racial cults in North America. They were founded in 1866 by soldiers named, J. Calvin Jones, Frank O. McCord, John B. Kennedy, John C. Lester, James R. Crowe, and Richard R. Reed. The KKK is made up of caucasian people that believed in white supremacy. In a matter of four years the Ku Klux Klan extended into almost every southern state. They were trying to resist the republican party’s reconstruction era policies that were aimed at establishing political and economic equality for the African American men and women. The republican party ended slavery which made the Ku Klux Klan annoyed of there doing. The Ku Klux Klan would intimidate and show violence towards the white and black Republican leaders.
One of the clans main priority were to reestablish a white supremacy fulfilled through the democratic victories. They wanted the republicans to lose so the democratic could once again start white supremacy.
