What Is The Moral Behind The Stockings By Tim O Brien

In Tim O’Brien’s “The Things They Carried” he writes about war stories and all of his war stories have to meet a certain criteria to be considered a true war story. One of the stories O’Brien writes about is known as “Stockings”. Stockings is about a soldier who wears his girlfriend’s stockings around his neck to keep him from harm.
In the war story there is a moral behind the stocking and that moral is to never give up. There is no true evil behind the story just a man with a gift that gives him incredible luck. Another reason it’s not a true war story because the solider doesn’t find himself embarrassed. Sure he wears his girlfriend’s stockings around his neck but he takes great pride in that, he likes to show it off. In the story the
