(HF). She was discharged from the hospital 10 days ago and comes in today stating, “I just had to come…
Karen Thomas arrived this morning for Syncope. She was brought to the hospital by an ambulance. Her alcohol level was O. She already had two negative troponin and was going to be discharged the next day. Basically, she was at our CDU floor for observation and third troponin. After getting a report from the nurse, I went to see the patient to do my assessment. As I introduced myself, I could tell that she was not happy being bothered and staying at the hospital. I completed vitals and assessment, and administered her medications. While I was about to leave, she mentioned that she did not want to be bothered all night. In our floor, we were required to do vitals and a complete head to toe assessment every four hours. Since she was syncope patient…
She becomes so angry she wants to reschedule which really isn’t a good idea because this appointment is important. I take it upon myself to call the patient to the back and explain to her how important her appointment is and how we appreciate her for choosing our office and how we would hate to lose her as a patient due to a misunderstanding on our behalf. The patient decides to stay and we go ahead and do her appointment and give the best care possible. It takes a leader to stand up to angry patients that have their mind made up to leave. As a leader you must obtain all the human skills at once a leader should be able to understand, alter, and control.…
Marla sat in my office nervous and unsure as if she was even in the right place. I asked her if she was okay and what brought her to see me. Marla told me of her symptoms and said she was unsure if she should even be here. I asked her if she has been to a family doctor to discuss her problems that she was having and she assured me that she had and came out with a clean bill of health. He doctor suggested to come see me and talked about what she was feeling and going through. With this and much reassurance from me telling her she did the right thing. I proceeded to ask her the following questions:…
During the Antebellum Era, many African-Americans were stripped of their freedom and sold ruthlessly into slavery. Throughout history, many writers and speakers utilize rhetorical strategies to achieve a specific purpose; similarly, former slave Frederick Douglass successfully confronts the issue of slavery through his narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglas. Becoming a prominent figure in the abolition movement of slavery, Douglass utilizes appeals to emotion as well as a shift in tone to unveil the horrors of slavery and to foster the opposition to the institution of slavery.…
Reconstruction was the period from 1865-1877 where the government of the United States tried to put the country together again after the Civil War. President Abraham Lincoln lived briefly during this period (assassinated) and set the template for reconstruction. The Vice President Andrew Johnson who is described as lacking Lincoln’s moral sense and political judgment, became President and followed the template while adding his own ideas to it. During Johnson’s presidency reconstruction proved to be a hardship that was difficult to establish in a way where everyone could be happy. Although reconstruction succeeded in achieving things that wasn’t before, ultimately it was a failure and a monumental disaster. In general, many consider it an ineffective attempt for a number of reasons.…
“Charity towards all, and malice towards none”, were Lincoln’s words and his vision of the path of Reconstruction. After the bloody defeat of the rebellious Southern states in the Civil War, America needed peaceful reconciliation and reconstruction. What was intended to be a painless, effortless plan turned into another irrelevant conflict that ended up a failure. Although, the southern reaction to northern rule was a factor that lead its to failure, northern political factors also killed Reconstruction.…
Kenneth M. Stampp and Eric Foner both agree to disagree on the outcomes, purposes and causes of reconstruction. Kenneth Stampp, in the article, “The Era of Reconstruction 1865- 1877,” explains how the radical effort to establish and protect Negro civil and political rights had failed but also that in the “long run” it didn’t, therefore agreeing that the reconstruction was a success. He explains how the emancipation of the blacks was more than just a gesture and that getting the 14th and 15th amendment in the federal constitution was a pivotal outcome which was needed if blacks were to truly achieve freedom.…
After the Civil war ended in 1865, the south was in complete shambles, the economy was down, there were political struggles, and newly freed slaves needed to be included in society. All these problems called for “The Reconstruction Act of 1867”, which was instituted by the Republican Party. The goal of reconstruction was meant to reunite the nation and rebuild a southern society that was not based on slavery. Historians Kenneth M. Stampp and Eric Foner have opposite views on the success of reconstruction. Stampp believes that the steps and reforms from reconstruction had long term effect which made it successful while Foner argues that reconstruction was a waste of time and that it has not produced one useful result. Both historians debated on the success of reconstruction, however in my opinion, stronger evidence points to its failure following Foner’s argument. The effort of reconstruction did not help improve the economy and the life of African Americans in general did not change much overall.…
The South suffered a great blow in the hands of the Civil war. The result was a social unrest characterized by political chaos, economic digression, and social dysfunction. The war was so severe that it led to the complete destruction of the South’s crops and plantations as well as entire cities. Moreover, the slaves held within the region took advantage of the Union army invasion t flee their masters. These factors contributed to the increased inflation of prices for basic needs as the Southerners sought for means to sustain them. For instance, food commodities were being sold for as much as double their initial prices due to their scarcity. Eventually, several southerners died of hunger while others lost their properties…
Reconstruction in the United States was very important after the civil war. The civil war was very important because it led to the freeing of slaves. During this time many new changes occurred. Reconstruction meant that things were being built and things like agriculture started to take over industries around the south. After the confederates lost the civil war most them had to rejoin the union and things got more complicated from there. But as time progressed a lot of things took place. Now that the war was over the reconstruction period had many effects on the people, the economy and society in many ways, some were a great success and most were failures.…

What part of the building was she in? Where there any sign to say that staff and visitors are prohibited from coming in?…
Mary confided in me rather quickly and said if I am offered the position I should request a different floor. I explained I was not applying for a job and what my purpose was. At this moment Mary and I became best of friends! She informed me that this unit was a horrible unit to work on as you have to watch everything you do because one wrong move or even one resident that doesn’t like your hair or the color of your scrubs will have your terminated or written up. She expressed how unfair the other residents are treated which shocked me. Mary took me to a lower floor and as soon as the elevator door open I was immediately welcomed with the strong smell of urine and feces. There were no flowers, no pictures on the doors, residents looked as if they hadn’t bathed or changed their cloths, beds unmade, and the food looked like something I wouldn’t serve an animal. Mary stated, “Welcome to the poor unit”. I cannot begin to tell you how upset this made me feel and how it broke my heart.…
