Hester
Prynne and her daughter lived together in the forest. Hester had to raise Pearl by herself because neither of the men would help her. She had a rebel child but also kind hearted little daughter. Hester Prynne always tried to do the right thing for Pearl. Towards the end of the book, Hester Prynne and Mr. Dimmesdale planned to leave town together with Pearl so they could be together. Mr. Dimmesdale died in the end of the book before he and Hester Prynne left town. “… Hester Prynne had returned, and taken up her long-forsaken name” (The Scarlet Letter, 272). Hester Prynne ended up leaving with Pearl and did not come back for a duration of time. When she did come back, she was alone. She did not have Pearl with her. Pearl was very independent like her mother. In The Scarlet Letter, Hester Prynne was a very strong and intelligent woman
