Another satirical technique used in Spongebob is the use of parody. Episodes of the show often use parodies of real life situations to make fun of things or people. An example of this comes across in the episode Texas. In this episode, Sandy Cheeks, an underwater squirrel is homesick, missing the open air of Texas. Trying to get Sandy to feel better, Spongebob plans a surprise party for her, using numerous creative ways to try and get her there. One…
1.)By basically mocking himself and his own situation. He focuses on himself and the humor…
Applebroog’s art style is full of variety as she makes art in many different forms. These forms include painting, drawing, and sculpting. Her work tends to center around feminism, gender politics, and sexuality. I personally feel that the themes of her artwork, while inspired by feminism, may also stem somehow from her depression, as she was hospitalized for depression during the time she had been drawing close up sketches of her own genitalia.…
The intended audience of “Apple” is people that just by products for the sake of brand name, although the apples products may be overpriced, they do offer a superior hardware and even a user interface. The apple brand name has now become a trend, and is seen as fashion accessories which may be one of the reasons many people purchase them.…
The first logo of Apple Computer, Inc. depicted Isaac Newton under an apple tree deep in contemplation. It was designed by the co-founder Steve Jobs and Ronald Wayne in 1976. “It was inspired by a quotation by Wordsworth that was also inscribed into the logo that said: Newton...a mind forever voyaging through strange seas of thought with Apple Computer Co on the ribbon banner ornamenting the picture frame”. (Harold, 2007, para. 2). The logo changed altogether in 1977 to a rainbow bitten apple as Steve Jobs…
In the movie, the three main types of comedy I recognized were farce, parody, and satire. Farce is comedy designed to provoke the audience into simple, hearty laughter and often uses highly exaggerated or caricatured character types and puts them into improbable and ludicrous situations. It also makes use of broad verbal humor and physical horseplay. Some examples of farce in the movie are:…
. Second anlejah effectively uses word choice to make the crowd burst out laughing. For example in the middle of the joke anjelah shows her displeasure and how she should just keep it cool by saying ‘’its just acting’’ and then follows it with ‘’its just acting’’. This is an example of effective word choice becuase the phrase ‘’ she didnt really do it ’’ cause the crowd to laugh for about 8 seconds’’…
Pink compares simple people to famous ones, by calling the first “little people”. But this is not what Pink thinks, this is what these models think about normal people: that they are “little”. Chicks are usually laugh really loud to get an attention to. They want to be in the center of everything. In the third line they are looking for a daddy. It means that usually such kind of girls are trying to find rich man , with numerous bank accounts, who will spoil them with money, and when he will die all his property will be inherited by his young wife.…
Wegman’s video art in the 1970s specifically explores incongruity to deliver humour to a greater level. Marina Warner highlights that ‘’artists transform inert material things, animating them with fantasy, infusing objects with meaning through memories of childhood, or in imitation of children's imaginative games’’ (Warner, M. ‘Game On’ 2005).This can be seen in Wegmans short films in which he demonstrates the use of minimal elements such as his body and the dog ‘Man Ray’ to create unexpected moments or scenarios of conceptual humour. In the short film ‘The Spelling Lesson’ (1974), Wegman corrects the dog’s spelling test by implying that the dog spelt ‘out’ and ‘park’ correctly and then explains to the dog ‘’You spelled it B-E-E-C-H’’ instead of…
Clay pokes fun at his nervousness and the fact that he was extremely tall for his age. "And again yes,' because I realized that not only had my voice come out as thin and high as the squeal of a dry buzz-saw, but the microphone was at least a foot too low. I had to bend my knees to speak into it" (Hodgins 405). This further establishes the tone of the story as being light-hearted. Clay does not hold back at making himself the butt of jokes within the story. He offers himself up for the readers to laugh…
This award from the KPMG Future Leaders Program will help me achieve my goals not only by supplying me with financial assistance to pay for college but also by allowing me to interact with strong, success women who have experience and insight into a male-driven field. It is seldom that a young woman like myself has the opportunity to further their knowledge of business and communications, and gets to learn that information from strong female leaders. My goals and aspirations stretch far beyond my current skills, and I hope that an award from the KPMG Future Leaders Program will allow me to grow the skills I need to continue on to be a leader to those around me. Going into my freshman year of college with a mentor counseling and teaching me the skill sets required to succeed in my field and to prosper at NYU next year, would be an extraordinary privilege and honor. Woman have always been major contributors to society, despite being shoved down and oppressed on too many occasions and in too many ways. It has always amazed me that despite being oppressed, women have always remained true to their strength and have paved the way for other intellectual, career driven women to prosper in the modern…

It was a lengthy, and a barren day on the fish farm. Young Jebediah had been out on the sparkling porcelain lake for what seemed like hours. You could tell by, the stench of perspiration and sweat that temporarily acted like his men’s body spray. He also looked exceedingly drained, and was beginning to receive an aching sunburn across his worn out body. His denim pant legs and his coral button down shirt sleeves were rolled up. You could tell that he had been sweating because his skin was glistening and it had a certain glow. Although he had been out there for hours he still was not able to catch any fish that his family could digest for a fulfilling dinner.…
Looking at some of the great philosophers that have asked many of life’s greatest questions and lived their life looking for answers to these deep questions, without a doubt Albertus Camus would be considered one of the more well know philosophers. Albertus Camus’ was best know for his thoughts on absurdity and its existence and more importantly how people live with this idea. Some of the main points that I’m going to highlight about Albertus’ thoughts on absurdity are how people deal with this absurdity, how philosophers address this thought and lastly how can it be affirmed or understood in this world. Albertus Camus uses the book of Myth of Sisyphus to explain main key concepts and points that he makes during his meditations.…
