What Is The Theme Of The Movie Glory

Glory. At first glance it may just seem like your average civil war movie; but Glory entails so much more. With emotional trauma and so much more, this film goes beyond the battlefield and into the personal lives of soldiers and generals; the story gives viewers an in-depth look at what really happened during the war. The film was influential and well-written; really conveying the thoughts of the people involved in the war during the time. Being both enthralling and emotional, Glory went above and beyond my expectations.

Glory told the true story of the 54th Massachusetts Regiment; the first Northern troop to allow colored men to fight alongside white men. The movie gave a detailed look into the lives of all that were involved in the fight for slavery in this new addition of black soldiers in the army. Emotional yet
All characters were unquestionably authentic; the characters made me both cry and laugh, and the actors were some of the most believable ones I’ve ever seen in a professionally made movie. Like I said, every actor was so appropriately cast, and every word shared between characters somehow had a deeper emotional meaning. The themes of the film such as battling racism and fighting to free slaves were never directly said by any characters, themes were only conveyed through subtle hints in the characters words, which makes for a great film. A scene that stands out to me is a conversation between Colonel Shaw and Private Trip. The acting in the scene alone is phenomenal, however the script ties the whole conversation together; beautifully written to convey just enough emotion while also maintaining a certain level of professionalism between a soldier and his higher
