It was a wake up call to me about war. The violate imagery was very heart wrenching. Reading the poem for the first time it was just reading words. At the end when it said The old Lie: Dulce et decorum, which made me want to go back and really think about the words that were written. After looking up the translation I made the connection with what the author was trying to convey. It made me realized the horror of war. People always say that it is to brave to go fight. But I think he is saying that is really just stupid to go. I really liked this poem because it put a different perspective on war. I think that some soldiers go into war thinking they are heroes who will go and return the same, but they leave broken,tired, used, and traumatized. My brothers friend has a service dog, who he is training for Labs of Liberty. This dog is going to go to a veterinarian who is physically fine, but mentally he has struggled scene he got back from the Vietnam War. He has night tearers, anxiety problems and much more.
