In the play Macbeth, William Shakespeare introduces Lady Macbeth as ‘Macbeth’s dearest partner of greatness’. As the words ‘I have almost forgot the taste of fears’ echoed in the castle after the queen had died Macbeth cries ‘she should have died hereafter’. Indeed it was a tragedy to see this loving couple go down in pieces. The trust that was implicit between then ended with them dying alone, despising each other and grappling with their own demons. The treachery, betrayal, terror and massacre of the ‘dead butcher’ and ‘fiend like queen’ horrified the audience during the play. Lady Macbeth uses her love for Macbeth to betray their love and manipulate him into going along with his vaulting ambition. With the understanding of his weakness and strengths, tragically to an extent, the relationship between Lady Macbeth and Macbeth was the engine that drove the tragedy and made Scotland a ‘grave’ for all its dwellers.
The love between Lady Macbeth and Macbeth was confidant and as the downfall of the accident fractured it, the whole of Scotland descended with it. Macbeth turned to his wife for assurance in everything he did. As their love …show more content…
grew they became accomplices. Lady Macbeth encouraged Macbeth to follow his fatal flows. The act that Macbeth committed was meant to gain the crown and bring them the heights of glory has started their downfall. The sound heard by Lady Macbeth and Macbeth after the act was committed was their conscience playing fomented games on them. Lady Macbeth quickly dismisses Macbeth’s conscience in order of staying sain. The distraction of Scotland is parallel to the distraction in the relationship between Lady Macbeth and Macbeth. As the play continues Lady Macbeth goes one way and Macbeth goes the other. Macbeth tries to not put his wife in any more grief than she has been through. Macbeth restrains his wife from knowing any information about the secretive deeds he is committing. From then Scotland and their relationship was constant in evil, insanity and darkness.
They did not talk much after Macbeth went to spread blood all over Scotland. This change of event in the play devastates the audience because of the breakage of their relationship. However with them not on speaking terms Lady Macbeth grows more insane. She seeks help from the doctor but only god can save her soul. Before all this guilt she was the one to call upon the ‘murdering ministers’ to unsex her so that she can undergo with the shadows inside her. As she drove the blood bath alongside her husband demons where haunting her mind. Their love was no more as she started sleep talking of all the wrong deeds they did.
With no one knowing how she died it’s still in the audience mind if they was a turn of events to save their love.
Macbeth, king of Scotland caused the blood bath hiding most of the deeds from his wife. Not including Lady Macbeth in the actions caused her less pain form everything she had gone through. With the love that every inhabitant wished to have it was a tragedy to see it end on harsh terms. Macbeth did not have the chance to say goodbye as his queen perished. In this disgrace he was getting assurance from the witches’ weather his ambitions wear coming to an end or something new is coming up. The more their love grew apart the engine was dying but the tragedy kept
going.
In spite of his actions Macbeth gives up on his vaulting ambition and tries to die with honour. Without his fiend queen beside him he finds no purpose to continue life. ‘Out, out, brief candle’ was his call of regretting everything he did just wanted to die. If Lady Macbeth and Macbeth stayed neutral none of this would have happened. In other words Lady Macbeth was the fire that scorched the snake and caused distraction on Scotland. From the start to the end they were sing that their relationship would cause greater evil for humanity. Consequently the witches took advantage of this weakness and the blood bath started.
To conclude their relationship was the spark that started the engine of distraction. Lady Macbeth and Macbeth were a tragic waiting to happen. With the deeds done their minds were ‘full of scorpions’ and no water and perfume could wash and sweeten their hands. Nonetheless the kingdom of Scotland could not forgive their deed of treachery and betrayal that cause [Scotland] to be called the grave.
