What Is Theodore Roosevelt's Reaction About Going To War

I think one of the more intriguing parts of the film was Theodore Roosevelt’s reaction to the Maine sinking and about going to war with Spain. Theodore Roosevelt said McKinley had "no more backbone than an chocolate éclair” when McKinley was hesitant to go to war. I think that he was convinced that Spain was responsible and wanted to see justice. The video said he left the navy to start his volunteer Calvary. The Rough Riders incidentally gave T.R. his moment of glory but later in the video the said his time in combat was something like a week. The video also said that he didn’t charge up San Juan Hill, he charged up Kettle Hill, which is right beside San Juan Hill. I think that was interesting because he was already a larger than life character
