The only time this folkloric dance would be danced was when there was an anniversary of the city or if there was a special occasion that was happening in the country, sometimes for the president but that usually does not happen. The music for Tinkus in Bolivia during the 1900’s was really traditional as well. The music that was played was manmade instruments. The instruments consisted of a pipe flute, drum made from dry cow skin, a charrango which is made by the shell of an armadillo which were in rhythm of folklore and was often slow and played by a band with no electronics. The clothes as well were traditional. The clothes used to wear for the folk dance of Tinkus were the same type of clothes that the people of Bolivia in the rural areas, where it was mainly really poor, would wear. The style of the Tinkus dancing is also extremely different. The style that would be danced in Bolivia would usually consist of an unformal dressing and their way of performing the step would be difficult and hard to learn. Their style of dancing was like a drunken person was dancing it. This is true for the people of Bolivia because they would drink a type of alcohol when dancing because of the heat making the dancers feel extremely hot inside their clothes which are made from sheep fur and their helmets which they wear are made from dry cow skin. The name of groups, style of dancing, type of music and the clothes has changed since the time to technological advancement. In the United States the type of culture that is presented have diminished since the Indians had to be pushed out of their land, but the diversity of the culture in the United States has been dramatically increasing since there have been more immigrants coming into the United States. The time and place where tinkus is danced here in the United States was when they apply for an entrance into the parade or festival they are going to participate into. Most of these festivals or presentations are usually for the anniversary of the state. The music has also changed in the United States for the folk dance of Tinkus. The music that is used now for this traditional dance of Tinkus is the electro type, which was common in the 1980’s and 1990’s. The songs now are not the type of old bands with instruments that were man made. The type of clothes of the folk dance Tinkus is now still the same, just that the style on the jacket is different and has the logo of the groups name, like: Tiataco, Pachamama, Alma, Sangre Boliviana, and Cochabamba. There also has been a change in the types of moves or steps the dancers perform. These steps have been modified into a way to make the moves more dramatic and extravagant to the audience.
