According to Laudon and Laudon, (2012), knowledge management systems (KMS) are systems that help the construction and distribution of a corporation’s skills and expertise. The knowledge management systems are organizational practices that are acquired in business that are gathered, shared, stored, and passed on. Efficient KMS boost the effectiveness in a firm to understand its atmosphere by integrating learning into organizations procedures. The KMS is a technique for refining the corporation’s practices and performance. Each KMS is used in applications such as computer science, general management, and data systems. All KMS represent several types of data processing system that collects, saves information, enhances partnerships and identifies data sources. KMS extracts sources for unknown information, catches it and uses the knowledge. KMS increases the business processes in some way. KMS are firm’s resources that are intangible assets. KMS requires organizational expertise and experience. Laudon and Laudon, (2014).
What are the Major Types of Knowledge Management Systems?
There are three key essential types of knowledge management system: enterprise-wide knowledge management systems, knowledge work systems, and intelligent techniques. Enterprise-wide knowledge management system is commonly a companywide attempt to assemble, keep, circulate, and utilize digital material and information. The systems consist of skills for gathering data, stowing unstructured and structured knowledge. The systems also detect worker experiences inside the business. Enterprise-wide knowledge management systems have the ability to assist with technologies such as search engines, portals, and social business tools. Frost, (2010-2014).
