I knew I would be okay in this new life of mine while sitting alone at residence orientation. It wasn't because the chairs in this auditorium were fluffy like cotton candy, and I was nearly asleep. Rather the voice of the nervous third or fourth year. He was shy with a sense of humour, it was captivating. His voice was captivating like the movies you get so into you forget dinner is ready. I thought if blinked
I would miss the most important thing I would need to know about my next 4 years here. The truth is my eyes were burning so I blinked, a few times.
His cheeks blushed, soft pink like the dress you wore to our twelfth grade prom. His smile is vibrant, and his laugh? Warming like the feeling of fall weather, a candle burning and a tasty cup of hot coco. His eyes Brandy, caught details people otherwise wouldn’t see, me. He is incredibly dressed for a university guy, classy but casual. A mix of Tom Cruise and Bradley Cooper. He is always dressed in dark tones, appealing to his shy personality. His wardrobe portrayed qualities of himself, he is very well put together, neat, and caring.
In a crowd of strangers he was the first I would see. That was pleasant to me. Pleasant like falling asleep to the sound of rain on your window. He was comforting like my favourite fuzzy grey blanket from the moment he mentioned he first noticed me. I envied his efforts of making my welcome week, and moving away experience the best it could be.
Remember in high school when we were told you would meet your life long friends during your first years of University? I was terrified it wouldn't be true. Terrified like throwing your popcorn and screaming in the movie theatre terrified. Instead, without any pop up scenes I met mine the second I looked up from the very back of the auditorium in my cotton candy seat at residence orientation. He’s that shy RA guy.
