Going from child to adult isn’t too much of a stretch from the Pacesetter way the steel company is all too familiar with. Like Aviva, many of Pacesetter’s employees and clients are decades-long members of the company. This is attributed to years of genuine care and concern for every individual that interacts with the Pacesetter family. When she joined the team after graduating magna cum laude from law school in 2010, Aviva knew that continuing…
The discipline of entrepreneurship has a distinct place in business administration. Entrepreneurial activities have a global impact on individual lives, careers, and also on organizational survival and growth. Entrepreneurs introduce change and innovation into the economic and social system, forcing other individuals and organizations to constantly adapt. New products and services, and new organizational practices make it very difficult for business students and professionals to settle down into routine work and linear career paths. COMM320 is a course designed to provide students with a basic understanding of this discipline.…
As Lulu was nearing college began to wonder what she could be doing while at Centre. She decided to open up her own Mexican restaurant in downtown Danville. With help from her supportive parents and the Danville business community, she was able to open her restaurant the summer before she entered her freshman year. Through this experience she learned the about the challenges and difficulties that are associated with being a young entrepreneur. Balancing all of her school work and the daily operations of the business taught her a kind of perseverance that not too many of her peers can say they have. She is also involved in the Bonner program at Centre where she plans to collect coats from all over Kentucky and give them to children in mountainous villages in Mexico. In her two and a half years at Centre thus far, Lulu has had a great impact through her restaurant, Bonner, and her large social network of…
This article is specific to the D.C. Public School system wanting to begin a pilot program with Harvard University to participate in a program to financially reward targeted students in the middle school grades who appear to not see school as relevant to their lives. What the outline of the program for DC would be to work with approximately 3,000 students and by following the students work and attendance habits the students could possibly earn nearly $100 every two weeks which would be deposited into a bank account for the student. This program is expected to increase student attendance and grades within the DC school systems.…
With Wake Forest’s resources, I can envision myself becoming an entrepreneur who shocks the market with a company that promotes social change and generates profit. College should provide a safety net for students who have big ambitions. Wake Forest can provide me with the safety net and assure that no matter how outrageously crazy my ventures and ideas can be, I won’t fail because Wake Forest will help me get back up and encourage me to keep failing until I succeed. Anyone can say that he or she wants to attend Wake Forest for its name, ranking, and academic rigor, but not many know early on how he or she can bring value to the Winston Salem, and global community. Working with bright students and faculty members will help me in creating a difference that I’ve dreamt of since my freshman year in high school. Being a Demon Decan wouldn’t be a three year commitment, rather it would be a lifelong commitment and the way I live as a Demon Decan would become a lifestyle throughout my…
While working for the Columbus Foundation Fellowship, my goal is to absorb as much knowledge as possible. I am confident I will learn how to interact with external stakeholders, donars and all individuals in regards to showing how their nonprofit is making an impact. This will teach me how to take an organization’s message and not only spread it among citizens, but instill a sense of urgency for their issues. I am also confident I will learn how to accept and internalize any professional feedback given to me. My passion lies with advocating for those voiceless citizens attempting to better themselves through education. I hope to one-day advocate for low-income students because they do not always received equal opportunities as others in education.…
My organization, Smith School, is a public k-5 school in Massachusetts that was founded in 2003. We are a state identified level one school. This means that our students are among the highest performing students in the state. Our school has approximately 50 teachers, 670 students, one principal, and two assistant principals. Of the 670 students, we serve, 136 are classified as economically disadvantaged, 101 are considered learning disabled, and 33 students are identified as English Language Learners. These students are ultimately the product of our organization.…
This course is for students who want to explore the challenges of running and growing an entrepreneurial company or a division of an established firm. We start by looking at the most basic question. Can the firm grow; should the firm grow? Since growth is a choice, we will also look at the trade-offs between aggressive growth and what venture capitalists call "life style" businesses. We will also look at the importance of identifying opportunities for new product development and responding to competitive threats.…
Although these facts came as a shock to me, they also piqued my interest. Because much of my growth can be attributed to the extracurricular activities I have invested myself in, I cannot imagine myself without the demanding cross country practices, or the baked goods I sell to raise funds for Relay for Life, or the Gwinnett Student Leadership Team seminars that my peers and I plan for our school. Although, at times, I become more stressed with the extra demands of my club activities, the fruitful results allow me to relax as my efforts become tangible. By running, baking and socializing, I was able to briefly escape the academic pressures put on me by…
When I became a freshman in high school, I joined the school’s Future Business Leaders of America club. The FBLA Spring District…
Student life does not generally afford a great deal of free time to pursue your personal interests; however, at one point, you may have considered turning a personal interest or hobby into an official enterprise. Today, you have finally decided to turn that hobby into a business but have realized that you need start- up capital from a lender or investor.…
Future Business Leaders of America. I'm treasurer, and, in 9th grade, I won 10th place nationally for Accounting I. During 10th grade, I won third place for Accounting II in Pennsylvania, but was unable to attend Nationals because of cost. I won first place regionally for Business Calculations in 11th grade. I now help our chapter partner up with a local used clothing company and write articles for local magazines so that no one would have to worry about money to participate in what they qualified for. Since 9th grade.…

Because of my involvement in this program I was offered a chance to speak to junior high students at the state student council conference this fall. Their insightful words and honesty inspired me to work towards a Middle School endorsement, I thoroughly look forward to the chance to teach such a stimulating age group.…
