This concerned engineer from Morton Thiokol believed that the o-rings on the shuttle wouldn’t last and break off when launched because of weather conditions. This made him refuse to sign off the flight but, NASA went against his wishes anyway. But even before the Challenger lifted off to its doom on January 28, there had been many delays which caused its flight to be on the 28. Originally, the Challenger was to take off on the 22nd of January but was pushed towards the 24th because the launch of 61-C was delayed and was brought back on the 23 of January. It was then pushed to the 25th due to bad weather conditions at their abort site in Senegal. The Challenger was delayed again because the launch process did not finish on time for the flight’s take off. Once again the flight was delayed to the 27th due to the cold weather at the Kennedy Space Center. The challenger got delayed again due to high winds and a technological item that didn't work that also couldn't be removed to fix. The day the Challenger lifted off, the flight was delayed for two hours when the fire detection system was not working and ice surrounded the launch pad. At 11:38 AM the challenger went into the sky. One minute and three seconds in the challenger’s take off a big puff of grey smoke came out of the challenger. A few second later, 8 more puffs of black smoke started to come out. At last, the challenger disintegrated and killed all crew members that had aboard
