The Industrial Revolution took place during the 18th and 19th century and innovated the lives we live in today. It was an economic and social revolution. Economic changes that transformed the way people worked and the societies in which people lived. The Industrial Revolution was the far most reaching transformation of society. Inventors and innovators helped England become and make the transformation of the Industrial Revolution. The Industrial Revolution brought changes to Great Britain like: population growth, rural to urban migration and the growth of industrial cities.
One of the reasons why England was the first to industrialize was because, of its population growth. During 1750 to 1850 the population
had tripled to twenty-one million. England had to industrialize to produce more food. The population growth was a result of the Agricultural Revolution of the 1750s. The price of food was low, people bought manufactured goods. They had to improve their farming techniques like crop rotation and scientific breading animals.
Not to mention, many lost their jobs due to landlords deciding to run their farms like a business they would make a greater profit selling wool. Therefore tenants were forced off their farms. Most people had nowhere to go and asked parliament to dispose of their land and had no other choice than to move to the city and work in a factory. By 1900 only ten percent of the work force was on farming and seventy-five percent lived in the cities. This Enclosure Movement caused a big difference in many people’s lives.
