What Was The Mayan Empire

The Mayan Empire best known for its calendar system, advanced writing and math, insane pyramids, excellent stone and jade tools, gender equality, great road systems, and dedication to religion. Met its end after more than 3,000 years. Archaeologist show through studies that the ending of this empire was caused by a uniformed/unstable government, droughts, deforestation, debates, diseases, decreased trust in leaders, and abandonment of cities. The Mayan empire started in 2000 B.C.E. originating in Mexico but rapidly expanding to parts of Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras. Unlike other empires, the Mayan’s steered the other way with gender equality. The Mayans would let women be leaders and priests, gaining more female inhabits to its empire.
The arch allowed Mayans to store water that could be used later. In the cities throughout the empire the massive pyramids surly stood out to everyone. They were used to honor kings and leaders who were looked up to as gods. The pyramids helped insured a burial place for those important figures. The Mayans would honor their gods so they would end up not going to the underworld with demons, but instead go to heaven with past ancestors. An important creation that sparked and made trade easier was the Mayan road systems also known as the scabeob, they properly connected all the Mayan cities making easier to travel throughout the empire. The Mayan government for each city was controlled under the power of the king and had a stable legal system that determined punishments for crimes. The Mayans had one greatest accomplishments with creating an almost accurate calendar of 360 days per year. With the calendar they determined rituals and days to honor the gods, they were also able to track planets.
