It wasn't just a little tax either. It would cost a pretty penny to pay these new taxes and have quite the impact on their financial life. It wasn't just these taxes that made them mad; it was the fact of no taxation without representation that made them mad. They saw this as a violation of their rights as human beings since, for all these previous years, they had voted on who they wanted to govern. Who would later make the laws on taxes? But now Britain has made the taxes higher, with no difference in their representation to the government. Most of these taxes were on tea and other common items, but now they were taxing glass, lead, paint, paper, and tea, which wouldn't have been a problem except for the fact that layers and other jobs, including lots of paper, were now a lot less profitable. Plus, lots of these items were essential items for the daily lives of women, and now they cost more. And on top of that, there was the tea tax. The tea tax wasn't really a tax; in fact, it made the tea cheaper.
