What Was The Role Of The Abiotic Factor In The Decomposition Chamber

In the ecosystem project, there are three chambers. The three chambers in our ecosystem are aquatic, decomposition and terrestrial. We formed a hypothesis about what would happen to the biotic factors in each chamber of the ecosystem. For the aquatic chamber, we stated that the fish would die if the fish did not receive enough oxygen and enough food in the tank. The decomposition chamber did not have a lot of changes much because there is no activity or life in that chamber besides the the potato and the worm. The group also hypothesised that the terrestrial chamber would flourish only if it received the proper amount water and sunlight. These abiotic factors affect the biotic factors surrounding them in the chamber such as the sunlight and oxygen needed by the organisms and the plants.
In the terrestrial chamber the grass, an abiotic factor, is affected in a positive way depending on the amount of light provided, “A plant's growth, responses, and its ability to make food is affected by light”(Griffith,1). This shows how the grass is affected by the abiotic factor, sunlight. It is evident that the abiotic factor can affect the grass in a negative way if the grass receives too little or too much water. The decomposition chamber’s biotic factor, the worm, is affected in a positive way by the abiotic factor of soil. However, the potato is negatively affected by the biotic factor of limited bacterial growth. In the aquatic chamber, the fish is negatively affected by the tap water due to the many harsh chemicals in it, “Water districts disinfect bacteria and pathogens with chemicals like chlorine and chloramine, making tap water safe for humans to drink. But these same chemicals are dangerous to pet goldfish”(Briddges,2). However, the fish is affected in a positive way by the abiotic factor of fish food, which provides food for the fish to
