In schools today, one of the most talked about subjects in any history class includes that of Christopher Columbus. As he has the credit of “discovering America,” he is possibly one of the most recognizable explorers in our society. In the late 1400’s, however, Columbus was not as famous as we know him today. Ferdinand and Isabella of Spain unpredictably sponsored this unknown and strange explorer. In addition to the Spanish support of this idea, Columbus, who was known to be quite religious, also strongly agreed. All of these factors could easily come of this voyage with proper ships and a sailor, such as Columbus.
