What Would Happen Without Animal Testing?
What would happen without animal testing?
Imagine a world where everybody is sick. Thats what will happen without animal testing, where humans would experiment on each other to keep us “safe”. Medical testing on animals is good for these reasons: it helps in the development in medicine, finding and curing new diseases, and keeping humans from dying from the new drugs that have defects.

Medicine
Medicine is a necessity for human life in the current generation with all the current and new diseases being found today. ”Animal testing was required for me to receive the antibiotics, anti-inflammatory steroids, and bronchodilators needed for me to recover from my long bout of pneumonia this year.” (Pharmboy) Although Alex Pharmboy stated that animal testing gave him the medicine to battle pneumonia we still need to develop newer and more effective drugs at all times. For that to happen though we need the exploration and invention of new medicines. Scientists would need test subjects to do this in which they would most likely would be animals. I think this is a good thing because we need to know the side effects of the drug before it gets into human testing which could be fatal if not tested in the earlier stages. “Animal testing is an integral part of medical research, without any

But many of these diseases are known to other parts of the world but won’t be a problem for us. What if someone from that area has the disease and travels to our country and it spreads? We obviously would have to learn about this disease through the most common test subjects, animals. Not are animals the most useful resources to try and cure these diseases they also hold many others waiting to be discovered and cured. “Imatinib is a drug used to cure patients with chronic leukemia.” (Scott) This drug was made and tested on animals which helped many peoples

Scientists are constantly looking for new medical advances that they hope will save people’s lives and often turn to animals as the optimal resource for testing new ideas and products. These animals range from rats and mice to dogs and monkeys. On top of varying animals, the tests they run fluctuate from simply checking the effectiveness of a medicine already in use to testing an entirely new form of treatment. However, there have beens years of controversy over the morality of using animals as the test subjects.…

Animal Testing is so painful for animals and they don't understand why they're being put through this pain. It is also very inhumane and morally offensive. Animal testing is cruel and an inhumane way to torture animals for mankind's own benefit. There have been millions of animals that have suffered a vicious, painful death in the name of research. Lastly there are alternatives to Animal Testing such as computer modeling, As science continues to transform our world beyond what we know, and technology continues to transform and expand upon what we depend on. Medical research and testing will also transition to embrace and…

The first reason why we shouldn’t have animal testing is because animals are getting hurt or abused. “Over 100 million animals are burned, crippled, poisoned, and abused in US labs every year.” The chemicals that the people are using are burning or other worse things to them. The chemicals that they use on the animals could hurt or kill them. Over half of side effects cannot be detected in…

As a result of this, nine out of every ten trial medicines that look safe and appear to be effective on animals, fail when they are given to humans. Because animals don’t react the same way as humans, not only do the failed tests delay medical progress, but also they are a waste of animal’s lives, and a waste of money that is spent into the research and tests. Animals have different anatomic, cellular, and metabolic structures than humans have. If a new product is passed just because it is safe on animals and isn’t on humans, that could be a very dangerous situation. One instance when this occurred was in 1950 when a sleeping pill worked on animals but when given to humans it caused 10,000 babies to be born with severe birth defects. Another time, a drug for arthritis was safe on mice but when administered to humans caused 27,000 heart attacks and sudden cardiac deaths. Animal testing can make researchers oversea potential cures and treatments. Some substances that are harmful to animals, are helpful to humans. For example, aspirin is dangerous to some animals. Arthur Allen says, “A source of human suffering may be the dozens of promising drugs that get shelved when they cause problems in animals that may not be relevant for humans.” (“Of Mice or Men: The Problems with Animal Testing”). Of all the medicines that pass animal trials and are ready for human…

Not only humans, but animals also benefit from the use of animal testing. In fact, if animals aren’t used for medical research certain vaccines for rabies, hepatitis and other diseases wouldn’t be curable (Trull). However, many people argue that the human anatomy differs from that of animals. Nonetheless, animals and humans still share common features. For example, monkeys, just like humans, share the same fundamental use of hormones to counteract infections, which has helped scientist improve research (Trull). For the people who doubt animal testing should go to hospitals and look at patients who have survived from illnesses and diseases, because if it had not been for animals lives wouldn’t be…

Another important aspect to note is that animal testing helps to ensure the safety of drugs and many other substances humans use or are exposed to regularly. Drugs in particular can carry significant dangers with their use but animal testing allows researchers to initially gauge the safety of drugs prior to commencing Trials On Humans. This means that human harm is reduced and human lives are saved – not simply from avoidance of the dangers of drugs but because the drugs themselves save lives as well as improve the quality of human life.…

Many scientists and researchers are for animal testing. People throughout the world are living better lives because of the advancements made possible from the results of animal research. Researchers within many different medical and scientific organizations agree that animal testing is absolutely essential for progress. For example, over 70 percent of the Nobel Prize winners in medicine have used animals in their research. Advancements in science through animal research have brought us closer to finding cures for diseases such as cancer and AIDS. Nearly all of the scientists who do research on animals do it because they hope that, while it causes a few to experience pain now, it will help prevent many from feeling pain later.…

Animal testing has contributed too many life-saving cures and treatments. “California Biomedical Research Association starts that nearly every medical breakthrough in the last 100 years has resulted directly from research using animals” (ProCon). Animal testing has helped save many lives today and come up with new cures for medical purposes. Because of animal testing we were able to find a new molecular and genetic understanding of tumor biology which led us to treatment that directly kills cancer cells. “This year, approximately 182,800 women in the United states will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer” (AMP). Alec Baldwin, who has broken with the PETA over the value of animal research in developing treatments for breast cancer told the USA that one cannot be ‘single issue’ when it comes to medical reassure. Animal testing was the reason for the development of Herceptin and tamoxifen. Which are two medicines that have saved many men and women’s lives today. It helps us prevent and give us hope to find a way to cure. Studies with animals determined with folic acid, a B vitamin, helps prevent serious birth defects of the spinal cord and the brain when taken before conception and early in pregnancy. Also, “research involving animal models continues to improve treatment’s for chronic complications including blindness, kidney disease,…

Researchers need to test medicine using advanced technology not on animals. All researchers around the world need to find a safer more accurate way to test medication. If researchers keep using animals, their results will always be different for humans and they will never find a solution that will help people with their health. There are ways to test medication that are safer, faster, and cheaper than animal testing. If researchers use the technology animal testing will be eliminated from…

Others might say that animal testing is good because we can find cures for some of the terrible diseases that live here. It is more true that only 2% of the cures actually works. Also, that 2% has a chance to hurt people also. But it is true that some of the cures such as, lung cancer, birth defects, and spinal cord injuries. But if you are going to do animal testing and let it continue you should use more common animals such as rats, mice, and maybe ducks but not monkeys and other more endangered…

Animals everyday are suffering in laboratories because of animal testing. Animal testing is a horrible thing, even though it has lead to some medical breakthroughs. Although there better alternative options. If you weigh the pros and cons to animal testing it is clear that animal testing is wrong, even if there have been outcomes that have turned out well. Even though animal testing can help create cures, they have shorter life cycles, and sometimes finding cures for them, vitro testing, animals suffering, and the animals being extremely different from humans are all reasons why animal testing is a horrible thing.…

In Human Society International it states that 9/10 candidate medicines that appear safe and effective in animal studies fail when given to humans. This shows that every 10 experiments done on animals only 1 will work. This also shows that animals are being killed even if the experiment doesn’t work. In the UK an estimated 70,000 people are killed or severely disabled every year by unexpected reactions to drugs. All these drugs have passed animal tests (Human Society International). This shows that animal testing isn’t reliable if the medicines that are approved are killing people who are taking them. This is important because if the medicines are killing people that have been tested on animals, their should be a new way to make sure they’re safe. This shows that animal testing is useless and there should be another way to make sure drugs are safe before giving them to…
