Whataburger Case Study
Whataburger provides equal opportunity to all of their employees. They pride themselves on not discriminating on race, ethnicity, religion, disability, sex, or age. Whataburger requires that each employee fill out the federal E-Verify form before they will be hired. An employee does not need any level of education in order to be hired for the job. Whataburger does suggest experience in the food business; however, the person applying for the job will not be turned down for that reason. They have jobs to fit every persons needs. They have a cashier position followed by a team member position. They have cook jobs available and also management jobs. Whataburger is a company that does not want your career to be short there. Each chain has responsibilities in order for the operation to work. From the top to bottom each person in the unit must have the same goals and must have downward communication. The general manager is the first to motivate the regular managers. In doing his or her job well there are a number of rewards that can be given. From pay bonuses to career opportunities the management of the company does well in encouraging the general managers to motivate lower level employees. Managers get a number of reward opportunities as well if their job is done correctly and effectively. Their rewards can be as small as discounted meal programs to something such as long-term disability insurance. The team leaders could potentially have the hardest time keeping the team members motivated. They are next to the lowest chain in the management command line. They have to do an outstanding job keeping the employees busy and making sure the Whataburger chain ensures quality standards. They must also communicate any issues to the management in higher standings. Their incentives come in lower fashion, but still enough for them to work for. They can get anything from holiday bonus payments to scholarship programs. They must work hard in their position and the majority of team leaders are younger adults so the company thought that the scholarship would be best fitting for their position and also the team members. Team members are responsible for daily operations. They must be able to work well with customers, prep food, and maintain cleanliness on a daily basis. In order to qualify for a for a reward through the Whataburger company one must work at least 30 hours a week or 130 hours a month in a twelve months time.
