When Did Artemis And Raina Build A Fire
A long time ago there was a girl named Raina who lived in the woods outside of Athens. She had long, dark black hair and was a marvelous hunter. In fact, she was such an avid hunter that she would daily boast she was the best in Greece, even better than Artemis herself. Artemis became very upset at Raina. Every time Raina boasted about herself, Artemis made sure the next animal she tried to kill she would not catch. Raina ignored Artemis’s hints to stop boasting. One day, Artemis decided to test Raina’s true ability and challenged her to a hunting contest. Artemis noticed that Raina was hesitant in responding at first, so she said “If what you say is true, you should follow through to uphold your word”. Raina eventually agreed, and they decided to meet in …show more content…
They tried to warn Raina, but she wouldn’t listen. The next day, the whole town gathered to watch this exhilarating event. Artemis and Raina arrived at the exact same time. “Ok”, Artemis said, “In order for this to be a proper competition, we need to establish the rules. There are six animals in these woods. Two horses, two bulls, and two rabbits. The first person to kill one horse, one bull, and one rabbit wins.”. They drew their bows into position. Artemis had her typical silver bow and arrows, Raina with her wooden bow and arrows. She decided it did not matter what material her bow and arrows were made out of, all that mattered was her hunting ability. Artemis then shouted, “Go!”. They both darted into the thick woods. Raina searched and searched, but she could not seem to find any of the animals. She new Artemis had probably caught all three by now, maybe even all six. Even more time had passed, and Raina had just now begun to understand why the townspeople were warning her. She couldn’t take it any more, she knelt and began to cry. “How could I be so prideful?”, she
