First similarity and differences between the painting and Whitman’s poem. They both are talking about nature of how people can see the beauty in nature and in themselves if they just took the time to learn. Differences, When I Heard the Learn’d Astronomer is telling everyone that they can learn from nature and from nature a content life while the Starry Night is telling people that themselves alone can find or learn to find happiness not necessarily with the help of nature. Stars, I Have Seen Them Fall and When I Heard the Learn’d Astronomer are similar in the fact that they have a calm tone and a happy tone even though some of the lines imply conflict. They are different because in my opinion A. E. Housman’s poem is happier and lighter and the fact that the negative to positive lines are balanced. The last comparison is the Starry night and the poem Stars, I Have Seen Them Fall. They are similar because they are both pointing out that you need to find the silver lining in something that could be very dark and or sad. The differences are that in Vincent Van Gogh's painting to me has a sadder tone to it than the poem because while Gogh was painting that picture it was at the very end of his life so knowing that I get a feel for something
