His passionate perspective on music and peace made his music inspiring to other peace supporters. “He was the only one of many that showed his want for peace through his musical talent.” It is easy enough to say that all he wanted to do was promote love to the rest of the world. All Lennon really wanted was to stop violence and stop war, and to spread the meaning of love. Unlike most celebrities nowadays, John Lennon focused on spreading peace and love through his music. Instead of being self-absorbed, Lennon used his fame and talent to influence others to create harmony in peace around the world. (Gale). Suspecting that they would provoke a similar riot to the one in 1968, he declined to attend. Lennon stayed true to his words of spreading peace without the violence. Lennon ended up not going to this protest as he felt it would contradict what he felt so strongly about. Lennon was more inspirational than many musicians during this period. He stood up so strongly for what he believed in. He had a powerful vision that became a dream that he later accomplished. Lennon had thought so strongly about peace and love. He believed that the world would be a better place if everyone treated each other like equals. His determination for peace truly shows how he can be classified as a hero.
This all happened before his assassination in December 8th 1980 out the front of The Dakota Apartments in New York City. He was shot five times and killed by Mark David Chapman, a crazed fan. Mark consisted himself a second John Lennon and that there could only be one John Lennon. He didn’t have anything against the former celebrity but said “He killed Lennon to gain fame.” He then went on to say “He was surprised that more celebrities haven’t been killed to gain fame.” Chapman had said that he had considered killing many other celebrities but had simply chosen John Lennon because he wanted his widow,
