Death is one of the main characters that is widely focused and used in the film. Despite giving the abilities of a living being as well as being the cynical narrator, death has the duty to carry away the souls of individuals who have departed recently. This philosophical theory is widely spread across the book as the Liesel questions the existence of morality in the society as well as the reasons as to why bad things happen especially to the good people. To Liesel, the Jews, and the Communist are good people but face persecution from the Nazis led by Hitler. Hitler maintained his intentions of fully eliminating all Jews from the face of the earth especially in Germany by terrorizing them into immigration and those who were left behind were ultimately rounded up and forced into concentration camps and labor
