I started the day on a roll and never stopped rolling all the way down to the Gold Coast. We roared down the highway, a busload of cheering students who, like me, relished the opportunity to let their hair down and kick start an awesome day.
My mate calls over excitedly, practically vibrating with energy, “Are you ready to rumble Predrag?”
“Of course man – when we arrive the Gold Coast won’t know what hit it!”
The day was so hot, when the bus finally pulled over, the students melted out in a steaming, screaming puddle on the pavement. Thankfully we were just moments away from sprinting into the pool at White Water World. An explosion of frantic activity erupted in our math class – the race to finish taking calculations was beginning.
“You, over there! Yes, I’m pointing at you! Stand over there to take the measurement… yes right there. Good work Jesse”. Nothing could drag the smile from my lips as I eagerly anticipated the boisterous fun awaiting. I thought – if only we could do these faster… wait a minute! We can!
I called for my group’s attention. “Everyone, let’s split up and get all our calculations done simultaneously. I’ll measure the altitude over here while you record velocity over there.”
In the blink of an eye our work was done, before anyone else. Riding high on the pride of our innovation, like a line of cavalry we advanced on the rides. The water pouring down the turbulent slopes was nothing to the sweat pouring of my back – but that problem was left at the top of ‘The Wedgie’ when I plummeted downwards, screaming in terror at the vertical drop.
I turn to Jesse as he walks with me to the next ride, “This is unbelievable! This is definitely the best day I have had in Australia. We should buy permanent tickets and just live here!”
“Of course we should, man”, his sarcastic reply getting under my skin a little. Never mind, I
