Therefore, different primary and secondary sources must be consulted, to gain a clearer picture of the impactful memory of Robert Gould Shaw. Historians including Russel Duncan, Ja Saltmarsh, and David Blight have all written about Shaw’s memory. Primary sources will include speeches published by Shaw’s family, the monument dedicated to Shaw and the 54th Massachusetts, and the movie Glory.
