Heroes are everyday people. A hero is anyone who does his or her best to protect or save other people by putting themselves in danger and sacrificing their lives to help others. Anyone can be a hero for their own special reason or purpose. For me, I believe people can have their own issues and still be a hero and help. Abraham Lincoln was the 16th president. He believed that slaves should have their own freedom. In the article White House Funeral Sermon for Abraham Lincoln. According to Dr.Phineas D. Gurley in the sermon for Abraham Lincoln he says that “Liberty never dies- No assassin nor weapon can kill liberty” (Gurley 68). This is important because Abraham Lincoln fought for a major cause , which is for all slaves to be free and that slavery never comes back. Frederick Douglass was an American slave who fought for a cause also. Mr. Douglass escaped slavery and fought for others to be free also. In his article The Narrative of the life of Frederick Douglass, an American slave. According to Frederick Douglass in his narrative, he says “In September 1838 I left my chains”. (Douglass 71) Douglass is a hero because he was free, but risked being captured again to help free other slaves.
