I see the fear in his eyes every time he drives, not because he’s drinking and driving but because he’s scared that if he gets stopped by a police officer, he will get deported from this place he now calls home. Like many people here my father is just a number in the system. He has been here half of his life and he can’t enjoy the benefits I have, simply because he was not born here. Government official should realize that many people who are forming a life here will eventually maybe have documents in the future because once a child is twenty one they can ask for their parents or spouse; so why not just give them the opportunity to prove …show more content…
They should be able to be seen as one of us not just like an outsider. The way the government is making them seem, immigrant are being segregated from us. These people have the same body parts we do, can be capable of doing all the things we do and learn everything just like we do. For example in Justice and humans rights it quotes, “We have not forgotten our history. Slavery was once upheld as a way, until enough voices were raised to declare the truth about the injustice and cruelty of oppression. Slavery was followed by segregation, and now we are faced with the idea that the immigrant is a threat to our society—stealing jobs, bringing crime and even disease.” People are realizing how repetitive history can be. Immigrants are not opposing a threat to society, just like in every race, there is good and bad people. People who came here from European countries brought diseases to the natives, no one seems to be arguing about that simply because they are not in the shoes of these immigrants. They should not be categorize them just like “things”, they are humans and all humans make a right and a wrong. Nobody is perfect, everyone has to learn from their mistakes. They too have a voice and they should be heard loud and clear, they want one thing, the same thing we do ,they want to live a better life, not just for them, not just for their children but for the many generations that
