have a rhythm, so when the discovery of free verse poetry began to get more and more famous throughout the country, people began coming out with rap music. Like free verse poetry, people didn't approve of the new music right away, but after a while when new musicians rose and began bringing more to the new genre, it became increasingly more popular. It only took a few people who were well known in the world before the change to make something new important and popular. Of course poetry and music do have many differences to each other.
Poetry is meant to be read, while music is meant to be sung or played by an instrument. Poetry was sometimes made into music, but the two have always been separated by a fine line. Most of the time, poetry can be interpreted in many different ways, while music is usually pretty straight forward and tells us a story or the feelings of what a person is going through. Music, rap specifically, has always overshown poetry. Poetry might have been the beginning of music, somehow helping it become what it is now, but somehow music has always been more popular that poetry. This is very different to how some countries see poetry verses music, but in the U.S. we have always been more interested in music then we have in poetry. This is a big difference to how it was back when poetry first came out, and it was the most popular thing anyone would want to fill their free time with, but now, music has taken hold of our lives more than poetry ever has. Although music and poetry have many difference and similarities, they are a big part of our country. Music and poetry have always been a way for Americans to show their true selves and to express their feelings. This was used greatly during the civil rights era as black Americans began to express themselves through music and poetry. If these discoveries weren't to have been found, then the world could be completely different to how we view it
today.
