Who Are Meerkats?
There are very little animals on earth who can work together like Meerkats do. These miniature members of the mongoose family work together in groups as large as 40. Whether it’s finding food, looking out for predators, or watching the babies, everyone has a job. Meerkats live in the northern tip of South Africa, as well as various other deserts and grasslands. They use burrows for protection, digging them out with their long sharp claws. A full mob can live in up to 5 burrows at once. These burrows help protect the Meerkats from intense heat, hungry predators, and a variety of other things.
