Going over to the window, looking out into the darkness with tears pouring down his face, noticing him, Ashley, went over and put her arm around her Grandfather, “Grandma will be fine. I’ll make up my bed and the sofa for Mark. I’m tired, and I have school tomorrow. Mom should have been back already, I’m not waiting up for her,” Ashley said.

After showering and dressing, Marlene went downstairs. “Why didn’t you wake me?” She asked, going into the kitchen where Jerry and Andrew were sitting at the kitchen table drinking their coffee and talking.
“You were sleeping soundly, and I didn't want to disturb you."
“Have you heard anything about Margaret?” She asked, pouring a cup of coffee.

“How did you hear about it?” He asked.
“It is on every TV channel and radio station in town,” Gayle said, before she asked, “What did you do about the bullet hole in the ceiling? I would be afraid to stay in the house. You never know when they might return.”
“I’m not afraid they’ll come back, but if they do, they’ll get a surprise. I have a loaded gun, waiting.
