The chinese created a formula which was made of Saltpeter, Charcoal, and Sulfur during the Tang dynasty possibly around the year A.D. 850. The Chinese were trying to make a formula that would make you live forever but instead it shortens your life by killing you. The first use that the Chinese had for gunpowder was to make fireworks.
