Who Is Apollo A Greek God
Apollo is the son of Zeus and Leto and the twin brother to Artemis. He is the god of music, poetry, the sun, healing, manly beauty, art, and prophecy. His symbols are the lyre, the tripod, the laurel tree, and the navel stone. Both him and his sister are associated with archery. Apollo was said to be very handsome and according to the myths he had many lovers. Apollo once insulted the god Eros, more popularly known as cupid, who got his revenge by shooting Apollo with an arrow that made him fall deeply in love with the water nymph Daphne. Eros then shot Daphne with an arrow that made her loath love. Apollo constantly attempted to seduce her but she would not give in and eventually asked her father for help. He then turned her into a plant known as the laurel. Apollo was heartbroken and as a tribute to her made the laurel one of his symbols

Ares
Ares is the son of Hera and Zeus. He is the god of war and bloodshed. Ares’s symbols are the shield and the spear. According to the myths he is quite difficult to get along with and is disliked by most of the other gods. He is said to usually be riding in a chariot in full battle armor. Ares has had many affairs with the wife of his brother Hephaestus, Aphrodite. One time Ares was fighting against the Greeks and Athena took the side opposite of Ares because she believed the Greeks

Hermes is the messenger of the gods and the god of thievery and traveling. His symbols are the caduceus, the purse, and the winged sandals. According to the myths he is very clever and is usually dressed as a traveler. Even as an infant Hermes was very cunning. Not long after he was born he stole Apollo’s cattle. When Apollo found out he was pissed and brought Hermes to Zeus to be tried. Finding the whole situation quite amusing, Zeus didn’t punish Hermes; he only required that Hermes return the herd. Feeling bad about what he did, Hermes gave Apollo his lyre that he had made from a turtle
