Who Is Atticus Finch

Atticus Finch, a respected lawyer and the main character's father, is an exceptionally likeable character in the novel, To Kill a Mockingbird. He will always stand up for what is right, which is an important factor in his representation of justice. Atticus Finch has a very humble heart. He's a very respected man in the community but has never acted as if he were better than anyone. Although most of Maycomb turned their back on him once he began to defend Tom Robinson, he still respected them for who they are; he claimed that "they're entitled to full respect for their opinions." Atticus's morality shines through many times in the novel. Not only does he choose to respect the town for their opinions, but he also says, "they're still our friends."
