Most of the time, Mannix is able to resolve anything with a few compliments and a beer or two. His job gets a lot more difficult when a major movie star, Baird Whitlock (George Clooney), unexplainably vanishes from the premises. Mannix got a lot on his plate but you better believe that he will be able fix everything. With a name like that, you just know that nothing is impossible for him. …show more content…
Why is Hail Caesar Awesome?
Beside having an interesting plot, Hail Caesar is funny, borderline hilarious. You might not fall off the couch, but it does have a decent amount of funny scenes and clever dialogues. However, note that not everyone likes the Coen brothers and if you are one of those people, you probably won't find this movie amusing. But, before you decide not to watch Hail Caesar, you should know that the following scenes take place in the movie:
George Clooney gets slapped around (that brought me so much joy). josh brolin and george clooney in hail caesar You don't want to mess with me, player. 2. Channing Tatum dances in a musical! I mean, look at
him!
Channing Tatum in Hail Caesar Let's dance!
If that won't convince you to watch it, I don't know what will.
I have a love-hate thing going on with the Coen brothers so I am always wary of their movies as I never know what to expect. Some of their movies are brilliant, while others are just horrible. So far I haven't watched a single movie from them that left me indifferent. They either caused me to say "Holy shit! What a great movie" or "What the hell did I just see? Why would they make such an atrocious movie?".
Luckily, this movie is in the first category. I really loved it. I know there are lots of people who didn't appreciate it but for me it was refreshing. The dialog was smooth, with lots of humor and wit. There are several scenes that were absolutely hilarious. The scene with Channing Tatum dancing was fantastic. The Coen brothers did a fantastic job of depicting the Hollywood in the 1950's. The rest of the cast is mighty fine, including Ralph Fiennes, Scarlett Johannson, and Jonah Hill.
I now that the IMDB rating of Hail Caesar is not very high, but I personally like it and am not sorry that I watched it. If you liked some other movies from the Coen brothers, such as "O Brother, Where Art Though?" or "The Big Lebowski", I'm sure you will like this one as well. It's unlikely that Hail Caesar will ever achieve a cult status of "The Big Lebowski", but it's sure to entertain you. I gave it 8/10.
