his father in the leg. Boo’s father decided to not send him to an asylum so he remained inside his house. When his father passed away, Boo’s brother Nathan moved in to take care of him. Once Dill heard this story he became obsessed with trying to get boo Radley out of his house. Soon Dill returns home and Jem has to return to school. Scout looks forward to her first year but soon is told by the teacher that her father should stop teaching her to read, because she was doing it wrong. Later we find out that Calpernia was the one teaching her. Since Scout loved reading with her father she regretted going to school, but promised her father she would continue to go and not get into any fights. As the year went on they went to visit a relative for the holidays. Her cousin began teasing Scout about Atticus being a “nigger-lover”, since at the time he began defending a black person in court. Her cousin continued to tease her and exclaim that the whole was disgraced by them. This ended up getting them into and fight. The weather started to warm back up, and the days grew longer. This started to get Jem and Scout thinking an out boo Radley again, they incorporated his tale into their little after school games they would have on the front lawn, making sure no one knew they were replaying the tale of boo Radley. Eventually Atticus found out which caused Jem and Scout to get in trouble, so they stopped until Dill came to visit. Dill and Jem Began to meet in Jem and Scout's treehouse, later we find out that they've been planning to sneak into boo Radley lawn and try and give him a note through the shutters. During the last night dill is in maycomb they decide to sneak into the Radley lawn and sneak onto the back porch. They see Nathan Boo’s brother he shoots a gun at sight of intrusion . They heard the fire and ran away. Later the other residents of the street turn up to see the commotion, upon arriving Jem realizes he lost his pants, and has to lie about where they went when the pants were still on the fence. Since its Dill’s last night they see him off at the train station.
Later he goes back to collect his torn pants to find that they've been detangled and sewn back together. Later in the year when the winter was unbearably cold there was a fire at one of the neighboring houses. All the residents of the neighborhood watched as the firemen tried to set it out eventually Scout comments how cold she was and soon notices that a blanket has been wrapped around her. Scout's family informs her that Boo Radley was the one one who wrapped it around her. Eventually the excitement died down and Scout and Jem decided to start exploring the central maycomb area. The problem was that Mrs. Dubose taughted them every time they passed her house. Eventually she got on Jem’s nerves and he snapped, cutting up her garden. Mrs. Dubose’s daughter calls Atticus and tells him what Jem did. Atticus tells Jem to go back to her house and apologize. She eventually sentences him to read to her for an hour or so. Soon, when she passes away she learns that she had a terrible morphine addiction and that her behaviors were rational giving her circumstances. Her final farewell was a gift to Jem. Which was one of the flowers he destroyed, this was obviously incredibly symbolic. Thus ending the
